Eid-al Fitr on April 10, 2024 is a Regular Holiday in the Philippines

It has been confirmed that Eid-al Fitr will be celebrated on April 10, 2024. The Malacañang Palace has officially announced this date as a Regular Holiday.

Yesterday, in an official declaration, the Malacañang Palace announced that April 10, 2024 (Wednesday) will be recognized as a nationwide regular holiday. This decision comes in observance of the Islamic Holiday of Eid Al Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting for Muslims worldwide. This declaration ensures that the diverse cultural and religious practices within the Philippines are respected and acknowledged, fostering inclusivity and unity among its citizens.

The proclamation of April 10, 2024, as a nationwide regular holiday in observance of Eid Al Fitr was formalized through Proclamation No. 514. This proclamation, signed by President Marcos Jr., underscores the government’s commitment to recognizing and respecting the religious traditions of the Filipino Muslim community. It is a testament to the inclusive governance principles aimed at ensuring that all citizens have the opportunity to celebrate and observe their faith without hindrance.

“WHEREAS, in order to bring the religious and cultural significance of the Eid’l Fitr to the fore of national consciousness, and to allow the entire Filipino nation to join their Muslim brothers and sisters in peace and harmony in the observance and celebration of Eid’l Fitr, it is necessary to declare Wednesday, 10 April 2024, a regular holiday throughout the country.” – According to the Proclamation 514 from the Official Gazette

It is said that the Eid-al Fitr will be declared depending on the crescent moon sighting.

In UAE, it is already forecasted that the crescent moon will appear in April 10, stating there that Eid-al Fitr will be on April 10 in the United Arab Emirates. The dates could still be vary as the Islamic calendar is based on lunar cycles, which are slightly shorter than solar months. This also applies in other countries such as the Philippines.
